Garmin Catalyst R1 Racing Radar with 197 Foot Detection and Rear Vehicle Alerts

Keep greater awareness of activity behind your race vehicle with the Garmin Catalyst R1 Racing Radar. The rear-facing sensor detects approaching vehicles up to 197 feet away and communicates their position through dedicated indicator lights. Drivers can recognize vehicles approaching from the left, right, or directly behind while keeping their attention on the racetrack.

Wide Rear Detection Coverage

The radar uses a 170-degree horizontal detection field and can track up to 8 moving vehicles. It detects relative approaching speeds from 0 to 43 mph while the race vehicle is traveling between 15 mph and 177 mph. The visual alert system helps support overtaking, defending, and positioning decisions during recreational track sessions.

Standalone Operation and App Control

Use the Catalyst R1 as a standalone system without a screen, or connect it to the Garmin Catalyst Radar app through Bluetooth. The app displays approaching vehicles, supports alert sensitivity adjustments, provides indicator light testing, and delivers firmware updates. Automatic light dimming adjusts indicator brightness as conditions change.

Permanent Track Vehicle Installation

The compact sensor and indicator lights use wired 12 V vehicle power, so there are no batteries to charge. IP67-rated hardware provides protection from dust and water exposure. Multiple mounting options, a 10-foot indicator cable, installation hardware, and cable management accessories support a clean race vehicle installation. The system is intended only for recreational racetrack use and must not be used on public roads.
