No Memory Effect

Nickel cadmium and nickel–metal hydride rechargeable batteries experience memory effect, in which they hold less charge the more they are used. Lithium-ion batteries, however, do not have a charge memory, and continue to hold the same level of charge throughout their lives.

Less Self-Discharge

Self-discharge decreases the shelf-life of batteries. It is a phenomenon that occurs when chemical reactions reduce stored charge. However, lithium-ion batteries have less self-discharge.
